Event Center will feature headline entertainers, family entertainment, professional sports and top touring shows.
The MGHerring Group has announced a joint venture with The City of Allen and Global Entertainment Corporation to build a $50-million premier entertainment and event center at The Village at Allen, a 181-acre mixed-use development in Allen, Texas.
The Allen Event center will feature 7,500 fixed seats and 26 luxury suites. The state of the art facility will host approximately 150 events each year, with more than 600,000 visitors annually. It will feature headline entertainers, professional sports and touring shows. Additional events include trade shows, community ceremonies, festivals, open rink ice skating, and high school sporting events and activities.
In addition to the event center, The Village at Allen will feature over 1.5 million square feet of retail, restaurant, office space and a full service hotel. The Village at Allen is scheduled to open in October 2008 and the event center is scheduled to open in early Fall 2009.
Global Entertainment venues around the country feature concerts with well known recording artists including: Don Henley, James Blunt, Stevie Nicks, Kenny Loggins, Willie Nelson, Maroon 5, Brooks and Dunn and The Fray. Other events include World Wrestling Entertainment’s SmackDown, Ringling Brothers, Disney on Ice and Sesame Street Live. A Global subsidiary company is the operator and franchisor for the 17-team Central Hockey League. The events center will be home to a CHL franchised hockey team.
“A regional event center has been on the Allen City Council’s strategic plan for many years,” said Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell. “This multi-purpose facility will have a significant ripple effect through our local economy. The public-private partnership of the project will create a first-class entertainment and sports venue without creating an impact to local taxes. ”
“With more than 2 million people in the Allen trade area, the Allen event center will serve one of our largest markets,” said Steve Bielewicz, president of Global Properties I, a subsidiary of the Global Entertainment Corporation. “The demographics of the area are compelling, and the willingness of the City of Allen to work with us makes this location an obvious winner.”
The site for The Village at Allen is located at the southeast corner of Stacy Road and US 75 in Collin County.
The Village at Allen will be one component of a 400-acre, regional, mixed-use development located in both Allen and Fairview, Texas. The Village at Allen and The Village at Fairview will be separated by Stacy Road but designed and developed as one project. Once completed, the mixed-use development will include more than 2 million square feet of retail and 1 million square feet of office, residential and hotel space.
